Tried for the 1st time yesterday, was back today! The Italian beef sandwiches hit the spot! Wet, meaty, have a kick (I add sport peppers to mine too) and generous portions of both meat AND cheese! Chicken strips were good as well! Not that weird, smooshy meat..if youre like me & fear that when trying new places. The breading is crisp and on the lighter side. Friendly, laid back employees. Similar to Sammy's taste of Chicago in West Allis if you have ever been there.

Small business in Racine with yummy food. The Chicago dogs are super yummy! The burgers taste pretty good as well. Better than the franchise restaurants in town. If you want to support a small local business this one is it!

Everyone at work always goes there for lunch. I finally went and ordered a gold roast sandwich and chili cheese fries. It was amazing!!! The fries are huge and the sandwich was a little over 6$ for about 8-10 inches of sandwich. Definitely would choose to go here over a high price chain shop.

Summary: Inexpensive, huge portions, large menu, convenient location. However, quality can be inconsistent, some items are best avoided, and authenticity (especially for Chicagoans) is questionable. I'm sometimes in Racine on weekends as my parents run a store nearby. They always insist on feeding me, so lately I've been ordering from Tommy's whenever I'm here. I haven't been to the restaurant in question, but I've had their take out a few times and am rarely disappointed. I did order an Italian beef and it fell apart (not the right bread) and it was a bit on the tough side. Flavors weren't the greatest but not terrible. Also once ordered a Chicago dog, which didn't have celery salt... and had ketchup. Gyros are hit or miss; sometimes quite dry, other times fine. I just looked at their Yelp! page today and didn't find many reviews. The two bad reviews are either incoherent or lack detail. I ordered Patti's special melt, a 1/2 lb steakburger, and a pizza puff. A large buffalo fry was ordered alongside a burger. I ate the Patti's melt, which is a quarter or maybe third pound beef patty with cheese and softened, partially carmelized onions on a old style rye loaf. Besides the medium well cooked beef (which I failed to specify as medium), the flavors are solid. The rye isn't tough or dry and everything comes together pretty well. It's also a pretty big item for the price. The steakburger weighed a pound in it's carrier container; easily one of the heaviest burgers I've ever seen under 10 dollars. Two patties, assumed a quarter pound each, ordered with everything but the kitchen sink (lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheese, "special sauce" that tastes a lot like thousand island) makes for a hell of a meal. Again, no specified doneness means they're cooked to law; 165 degrees and devoid of any moisture. Pizza puff is pretty standard, I don't think I've had any one that defies the norm (they all taste the same). The large buffalo fries were huge. Close to a pound of chip sliced, seasoned fries. Crispy but not overcooked or burned. I'll probably come back with friends to the restaurant, and see how it goes.

THIS PLACE knows what's up, a legit Chicago dog place. Jumbo dog with liquid/nacho cheese, NOT a cold slice of American cheese, on a POPPYSEED BUN!! Yes!! Huge portions-- small fry can easily feed 2-4 people. You won't find a huge size cup for fountain drinks-- the large is 20 oz, just so you know. Hot food, friendly and fast service on a weeknight. This was my first visit, and I will be back!!
